What To Expect

What To Expect - Welcome, we're glad you're here!

St John's is an active and growing parish, welcoming all to worship, service and fellowship.  You'll find lots of friendly faces and many opportunities to grow in faith and make a difference in the world.

Sunday Services are held at 8:00 and 10:00 am each Sunday.

Fellowship continues following the 10am service with coffee hour in the parish hall.  Coffee and cold drinks are served, often accompanied by light refreshments. On the first Sunday of each month we host Hot Dog Sunday, serving hot dogs and sides for an especially family-friendly fellowship time.

Nursery Care is offered for infants and children up to age 3 from 9:45 - 11:15 on Sunday mornings in the preschool building. Our nursery attendant is a trained and background-checked child care worker and is assisted by at least one volunteer each week.

Sunday School is offered for children ages 3-10 during the first portion of the 10am service.  Children gather during the opening hymn at the back of the church, and process with a cross through the church and over to the preschool building for Sunday School.  Children join their parents or caregivers again at the Peace so they can share in Holy Communion together. Sunday School uses an Episcopal curriculum that is age appropriate and follows the same Bible lessons that are read in church.

Holy Communion - All are welcome to receive Holy Communion. Please feel free to kneel or stand at the communion rail. Gluten free wafers are available as well.  Some choose instead to receive a blessing, or a blessing for their child from the rector at the communion rail. The Rector is happy to meet with parents or caregivers at any time about instruction for their children regarding Holy Communion.

Baptism is a full initiation into Christ and the universal Church. If you have been baptized with water and in the name of the Trinity, we honor that and do not 're-baptize.' Please contact the parish office for upcoming dates for baptism if you wish to schedule a baptism. Alternate dates may be arranged at the discretion of the Rector. The Rector will arrange a time to meet with the baptismal candidate and/or family members and godparents for baptismal preparation.

Confirmation - All who are baptized may make a public affirmation of their faith in the service of Confirmation when a Bishop is present. Confirmation classes are held to prepare older teens and adults for this event. If you are interested in being confirmed, please contact the parish office.

Weddings - Congratulations on your engagement! St. John's celebrates both traditional and same-sex marriages. If you would like to hold your wedding at St. John's, more information is available HERE.

Pastoral Care -In the event of serious illness, death or life crisis, please call the church office or the Rector directly.
